To us, a duvet cover is so much more than the sum of its practical qualities. Much like the clothes we wear, bedding exists as a reflection of character. From the exquisite sheen of sateen to the timeless elegance of percale, a beautiful piece can truly elevate a space.
Our luxurious sateen duvets, lustrously finished and silky to touch, exude a quiet confidence. Their subtle sheen makes them the perfect choice for those hoping to add a sophisticated glamour to their bedroom.
For lovers of simplicity, our percale duvets promise a classic charm, minimal and understated, yet notably luxurious. A matte finish and crisp appearance curate a sense of timeless elegance, reminiscent of luxury hotels and rejuvenating escapes.
Meticulously made up or nonchalantly tossed aside, our duvet covers always look their best.
By Touch
Soft as a feather or crisp to the touch, everyone has their own definition of comfort. We’re here to help you find yours.
If you frequently find yourself burritoed in blankets, sateen bedding could be for you. Its four-over, one-under weave gives the fabric a luxurious sheen and a little extra warmth, ideal for chilly nights. That said, this versatile weave is still breathable enough to keep you comfortable when the weather warms up.
For warmer nights and hot sleepers, percale duvet covers are a cooler choice. Crisp to the touch with a traditional matte appearance, a one-over, one-under weave creates a breathable and lightweight fabric.
FAQs
Can I use a new duvet cover without washing?
While all our products are carefully inspected for quality assurance and should arrive in perfect condition, we’d always suggest a quick wash before use. This refreshes the cotton and guarantees an indulgently soft night’s sleep.
As a rule of thumb, washing your bedding once a week will maintain freshness and hygiene. Of course, it depends on the time of year, temperature of your home and whether you are a hot or cold sleeper.
What is an organic cotton duvet cover?
Unlike most regular cotton bedding, which is typically mass produced and low in quality, our premium organic cotton duvet covers are made from high quality, long staple organic cotton fibres which are sustainably cultivated without the use of any synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, ensuring a healthier, eco-friendly product.
Moreover, all of our bedding is GOTs certified, protecting not only the natural environment from which our organic cotton is sourced, but the farmers and workers that play such an important part in the manufacture of our products.
You can rest easy knowing this bedding is gentle on your skin, breathable, and incredibly soft, providing a luxurious and environmentally responsible sleep experience.
I have sensitive skin, are your duvets suitable?
Absolutely. Each of our duvets are crafted from GOTs certified cotton and rigorously tested in accordance with OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 specifications.
This guarantees that Spin & Yarn duvets are free from harmful chemicals and pesticides, ensuring a gentle touch for the most sensitive of skin.
What’s the difference between a sateen duvet cover and a percale duvet cover ?
Sateen and percale are both examples of fabric weaves, each with their own distinctive qualities. Often associated with a luxurious drape and smooth texture, sateen is soft and silky. Percale, on the other hand, boasts a matte finish and crisp, hotel-like feel.
How should I wash and dry my duvet cover?
For the softest sleep, your duvet cover should be washed at 40°c, with similar colours. We’d recommend using a gentle, non-toxic detergent for best results.
In order to preserve that soft cotton feel, it’s best to dry your duvet cover naturally. That said, if time is truly of the essence, tumble dry on a very low heat and remove your duvet cover from the dryer as soon as the cycle is finished to prevent wrinkles. Where possible, finish the drying process naturally for crease-free bedding.
How often should you get a new duvet cover?
For the sake of hygiene and comfort, it’s recommended that duvet covers are replaced every few years. But we’d argue that there’s no time like the present to breathe new life into a space with affordably luxurious bedding.
