By Look
From the crisp covering of snow white sheets to the elegant drape of a dusty rose duvet, beautiful bedding has the power to transform a space. Whether you’re looking to soften or soothe, energise or expand a little colour goes a long way.
When choosing your bedding, begin by considering the energy you hope to achieve.
Cooler tones, such as crisp whites and icy blues, are synonymous with tranquillity and calm. As such, they can be utilised to promote a sense of spaciousness and clarity. Placed correctly, a lighter palette can make even the smallest of rooms feel bigger.
Darker shades, such as charcoal greys and midnight blues introduce a sense of sophistication and elegance. They are bold, yet refined, striking a perfect balance between contemporary aesthetics and deep relaxation.
A neutral palette, including sands, stones and natural cottons, is the perfect choice for the modern minimalist. Earthy colours bring a serene, organic feel to any space, grounding a room with their clean lines and understated elegance.
By Touch
Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, Sunday snoozer or get up and goer, the key to a blissful night’s sleep lies in the bedding you choose. From sensitive skin to nighttime chills, we’re here to help you find your feel.
For warmer sleepers, percale bedding is ideal. Woven using a one-over, one-under pattern, this traditional weave creates a breathable and lightweight fabric, ensuring a cool and crisp sleeping experience. No more tossing and turning, our luxury percale’s matte finish and airy nature make it a superb choice for those seeking comfort on warmer nights.
For cold sleepers and cooler climates, sateen bedding is a versatile choice. Woven in a four-over, one-under pattern, this lustrous fabric provides a touch of warmth during cooler nights while maintaining breathability for a cool and comfortable sleep during warmer months.
FAQs
When should I wash my bedding?
As a rule of thumb, washing your bedding once a week will maintain freshness and hygiene. Of course, it depends on the time of year, temperature of your home and whether you are a hot or cold sleeper.
I have sensitive skin, is your bedding suitable?
Yes! Our bedding is made from the finest quality cotton, ensuring a gentle touch for the most sensitive of skin. Each and every one of our products is manufactured using ethically sourced, premium quality cotton, rigorously tested in accordance with OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 specifications. This ensures that our Egyptian and Organic cotton products are kind to the most sensitive skin, and guarantees that no harmful chemicals have been used at any point in their creation.
What’s the difference between sateen and percale weave?
Often associated with a luxurious drape and smooth texture, sateen is soft and silky. Percale, on the other hand, boasts a matte finish and crisp, hotel-like feel.
Having trouble deciding between the two? You’ll find all the information you need in our buyer’s guide.
How should I wash and dry my bedding?
For the softest feel, Spin & Yarn bedding should be washed at 40oc, with similar colours. We’d recommend using a gentle, non-toxic detergent for best results.
When it’s time to dry, a gentle breeze in an English meadow is ideal, but an airer or clothes line will certainly do the trick. If necessary, tumble dry on a very low heat and remove your sheets from the dryer as soon as the cycle is finished to prevent wrinkles. Where possible, finish the drying process naturally for crease-free bedding.
What does thread count mean?
Thread count refers to the number of threads woven into a square inch of a given fabric; in our case, cotton.
That said, it is far from the only indicator of linen quality. A common misconception is that a higher thread count equals a better product, but this isn’t necessarily the case.
The quality of the cotton is much more important than the number of threads in the linen. So much so that a higher-quality fibre with a lower thread count will feel softer than a lower-quality fibre with a higher thread count.
