At Spin & Yarn, we understand that the feel of your bedding can transform your sleep from ordinary to extraordinary. Our Percale Bedding Collection is designed with this principle at heart, offering a tactile experience that marries luxury with comfort. Favoured for its understated elegance, percale bedding boasts a cool, crisp feel that lends itself to an unparalleled sleep experience.
Lightweight and breathable, our percale bedding is an ideal choice for warmer sleepers, promoting air circulation to help regulate your body temperature throughout the night. Celebrated for its smooth, combed surface, achieved through a high-quality, plain weave, our percale bedding is crisp to the touch and cool against the skin. Unlike other materials that might pill or roughen over time, percale bedding retains its quality, getting softer and softer with every wash.
Delicately draped or tightly tucked, our percale bedding ensures you wake up feeling refreshed, not overheated.
Percale Bedding By Look
We truly believe that the right colour influences mood and sleep quality. Our percale collection exists as a thoughtfully curated palette designed to harmonise with any decor. From minimalist to bohemian, each hue is chosen for its ability to create a distinct atmosphere in your bedroom.
Lighter colours, for example, transform your bedroom to a sanctuary of calm. Opt for our serene snow white or cloud grey for a classic, timeless look that brightens the room and evokes a sense of spaciousness. These shades are perfect for reflecting natural light, making your bedroom feel more open and airy.
For those who favour a subtle, earthy aesthetic, our neutral tones offer a versatile backdrop. Shades such as natural cotton or slate grey provide a soothing neutral canvas, bringing a sense of tranquillity and warmth to your space, and pair beautifully with wooden furniture and natural fibres for a grounded, organic feel.
FAQs
What is percale bedding?
Percale refers to a closely woven, high-quality fabric with a plain weave that boasts a matte finish and a supple, smooth texture. Renowned for its durability and lightweight nature, our percale bedding ensures a refreshing sleep, making it ideal for warm sleepers and hotter climates.
What is the difference between percale and cotton sheets?
Here lies a common misconception. While all of our percale sheets are made from cotton, not all of our cotton sheets are percale. Still with us? The key difference between cotton and sateen lies in the weave and feel; percale sheets are defined by their specific one-over-one-under weave, giving them a crisp and cool touch.
Is percale the same as polycotton?
No, percale is not the same as polycotton. Percale refers to the weave type, which can be made from both 100% cotton or a blend of cotton and polyester. Here at Spin & Yarn, all of our percale sheets are made from pure cotton.
What is a good thread count for cotton percale?
Typically, bedding with a thread count of 200 or above is considered to be of excellent quality. Our organic cotton percale bedding features a thread count of 300.
However, thread count is far from the only indicator quality. In fact, the quality of the cotton is much more important than the number of threads in the linen. So much so that a higher-quality fibre with a lower thread count will feel softer than a lower-quality fibre with a higher thread count.
How do you wash percale bedding?
For long lasting comfort, your bedding should be washed at 40°c, with similar colours. Use a gentle, non-toxic detergent for best results.
In order to preserve that crisp percale feel, it’s best to dry your duvet cover naturally on a washing line or airer. That said, if time is truly of the essence, tumble dry on a very low heat and remove your bedding as soon as the cycle is finished to prevent creasing. Where possible, finish the drying process naturally.
