It’s a good idea to change your sheets once a week or so to maintain freshness and hygiene. That said, you may want to wash your bedding more regularly in warmer months to ensure skin-friendly sheets night after night.

Ah, the age-old debate: flat sheet or no flat sheet? Those accustomed to the increased comfort of a flat sheet will tell you there’s no better way to sleep. Frankly, we’d have to agree.
Placed between a fitted sheet and duvet, a flat sheet serves multiple purposes. It provides a comfortable and hygienic layer that directly contacts the skin, helps to keep the duvet or blanket clean by reducing the need for frequent washes, and can add an extra layer of warmth. 

For long lasting softness, a flat sheet should be changed every week, and washed at 40°c, amongst similar colours. For skin-friendly sheets, we’d recommend using a gentle, non-toxic detergent. 

When it’s time to dry, a washing line with a cool breeze is ideal, but an indoor airer will certainly do the trick on rainy days. If absolutely necessary, tumble dry on a very low heat and remove your sheets from the dryer as soon as the cycle is finished to prevent wrinkles. For crease-free bedding, it’s best to finish the drying process naturally.

Let us stop you right there… thread count refers to the number of threads woven into a square inch of cotton, but it is far from the only indicator of linen quality.
